MAY MEDAL REVIEW

Last Sunday saw our members compete for the third medal of the year, the May Medal. The course was once again presented fantastically well and provided a true test of golf with some tricky pin positions on the day. The scoring on the day was more moderate than we have become accustomed to recently.

When John Boyle & Eamonn Free both returned scores of 70 Nett, a back nine countback was require to determine the winner. Once the scores were counted, it was John Boyle who came out on top. Playing off a handicap of 15, John finished his round his three consecutive pars to claim the medal. Eamonn playing of a handicap of 31, played steady golf all round all to finish runner up.

The Category One prize went to Richard Fitzgerald (H: 12), after he signed for a score of 71 Nett. The highlight of Richard’s round was a very impressive birdie on the par 3 2nd hole to get his round off to a great start. The winner of Category Two was Matt Connellan (H: 18), with a score of 71 Nett. The Category Three prize was claimed by Darren Kelly (H: 22), after he returned a score of 72 Nett. Category Four was won by Sean Walsh (H: 25), with a score of 72 Nett.

The Gross prize on the day was won by Brendan Monahan (H: 10). Despite carding a 9 on the par 5 12th hole, Brendan played impressive golf throughout his round.

The Golfer of the Year standing have been updated and are displayed on the noticeboard in the clubhouse.
